When I crave something sweet, I make my own version using healthy ingredients. Today, I made my own version of chocolate covered strawberries, but skipped the unhealthy ingredients, sugar rush and mood swings. This delicious treat contains healthy/good carbs (strawberries), antioxidants (strawberries, raw cacao) and healthy fats (peanut butter).

For those who prefer no maple syrup, the chocolate sauce tastes delicious without it. The cinnamon and strawberries add flavor and sweetness. If you prefer sweet, add the maple syrup and enjoy your treat.

1 lb/box of organic strawberries

4 tbsp organic peanut butter (crunchy no salt)

2 tbsp raw cacao powder (Foods Alive brand)

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp organic pure maple syrup (optional)

Wash the strawberries and set aside on paper towel to dry.

Mix together the peanut butter, cinnamon, cacao powder, and maple syrup in a bowl. If the peanut butter is runny, the sauce will come out great. But if the peanut butter is thick, you might need to add a spoon of water or (even better) a bit of coconut oil to your chocolate sauce.

Spread some delicious chocolate sauce on each strawberry and enjoy.

The chocolate covered strawberries are a delicious, healthy treat to include on your Christmas menu. It looks and tastes amazing! Happy Holidays!
